January 2nd and I have completed and am posting my first challenge for 2014. Posting it is the big deal as I don't typically get my projects posted prior to the challenge expiring.
This week the Papertrey Ink challenge is to create a project using Angled Backgrounds. You can view the challenge yourself here.
For my project I wanted to challenge myself to use some of the various rolls of washi tape that I have collected and really never use. My sisters birthday is coming up so I knew this would be a birthday card. I really like the colors I used, mainly black and white with just a hint of pink and gray/silver.
I used 2" strips of PTI White cardstock and adhered the washi tapes then I adhered them to a standard A2 card layer. I let the panel sit overnight as I brainstormed what I wanted to do to finish the card. The patterns on the washi tape are quite busy so I knew I wanted the rest to be very plain. I decided to die cut the Framed Out #2 die twice; I used some extra paper from the more solid washi tape strip and then plain white for the center. I stamped the inside border in Hibiscus Burst ink for that tiny hint of pink to match the pink stars and then I used Versafine Onyx Black for the sentiment from the Framed Out #1 set. I popped it up on foam squares and I was done.
Thanks for looking and I hope you have a great 2014!
