DCWV June Stack-a-Holic Template Challenge

I was finally able to motivate myself to do a Die Cuts With a View Stack-a-holic challenge - I have plenty of stacks but haven't ever completed a challenge.  I have printed out the sketches because I liked them but never did anything.  Here are the details:
Can you believe it's already JUNE? Serious!? Where does the time go! I hope you have been loving our monthly challenges here on the blog. I love seeing everything that YOU submit! I think we have the most creative fans out there :) If you haven't played with us before here's the deal. Create a layout based on the given template using one of our many stacks! Submit your page by June 27th by either emailing it to me {erinmadsen@diecutsinc.com}, posting a photo of it on our DCWV Facebook Page or by posting it on your blog and sending me a link.

Here is your layout template for June!

And now for the Card Challenge!

Card Sketch from Got Sketch?

I have decided to do the Card Challenge (I really need to get some scrapbook pages done but opted for the card instead.)  I used the Black Current Stack.

I hand cut out one of the flowers from a printed page in the stack, used my black Spica glitter pen around the edges of the gray/black petals to add more shine than was provided by the foil paper.  I used a Martha Stewart 1" scalloped edge punch for the center of the flower, stamped it with Staz-on Jet Black and a sentiment from Inkadinkado set Round Frames.  The gray strip and the printed background are also from the Black Current stack and the ivory base is Recollections.  I used my ATG gun and some 3D-Dots to pop the flower off the card and the center off the flower.  I wish my photography showed the actual vibrant colors of this paper.  I didn't do the tails from the sketch because I thought the card had enough details already with the pattern paper.
Thanks for looking and have a great day!  Leslie L.

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #69 Unique Sketches - Take 7

Well I made 7 cards using 5 of the 6 sketches.  Again the, what I am calling banner sketch, gave me a hard time.  Here is the sketch:

Sketch-1

Here is my card:

I am not sure if I like it or not; the supplies are listed below:

  •  PTI White cardstock as the base
  • Stampin' Up Stampin' Around happy birthday!
  • Stampin' Up Pink Passion
  • Misc. White flowers with rhinestones (from Hobby Lobby)
  • 3D-Dots
The only sketch I couldn't even attempt to use was the circle one (see below):
 Sketch-2

Next sketch:

Sketch-5
I had a hard time with this one; for some reason the banner cards are not very inspiring to me this weekend.  Here is what I finally came up with:

I gave this to my mom this evening for her birthday which is tomorrow the 11th (we have 4 June Birthdays, 1 Anniversary and of course Father's Day).  Here are the supplies:

  • PTI White cardstock for the base and the tag
  • PTI Dark Chocolate Ink
  • PTI Fillable Frames #4 sentiment
  • DCWV Sweet Stack
  • Small circle hole punch (1/2" maybe)
  • Tim Holtz paper distresser
  • Stampin' Up Blush Blossom marker (I use the brush end of these markers to ink my edges - it works much better than a large ink pad and gets into the smaller spaces.  I don't really care for white core's.)
  • Adhesive - ATG and 3D-Dots

Here is the next sketch that I attempted:
Sketch-6

Here are the supplies for this card:

  • PTI Dark Chocolate Ink
  • PTI Fillable Frames #4 and Die
  • Ivory Recollections cardstock
  • Heidi Grace patterned paper - Winnefred Street line
  • Brown Ribbon from Michael's
  • Adhesive - ATG and 3D-Dots
  • Cuttlebug

Here is the second one using the following sketch:

Sketch-3

I really like how this one turned out; it is super basic red, black and white.  I wish I had a 'Game Night' stamp instead of the 'POKER' one but I don't (yet).  Supplies for this card include:

  • PTI White cardstock and the base for the Club, Heart, Spade and Diamond (stamped then cutout)
  • PTI Fillable Frames #10
  • Inkadinkado Games set
  • Staz-on Jet Black and Blazing Red
  • Red cardstock from scrap bin (Core'dinations I think)
  • Adhesives:  ATG and Xyron X

Here is a different sketch:

I did two cards using this sketch as well; here is my first one:
I just gave this to my sister-in-law this evening (her birthday was on the 6th) and she loved the simplicity of it.  The supplies for this card are:

  • PTI White cardstock as the base
  • Close to My Heart Flutter set for the butterfly's
  • Inkadinkado Happy Days set for the sentiment.
  • Staz-On Jet Black
  • Stampin' Up Pink Passion, Orchid Opulence and Brilliant Blue
I almost felt that it was too simple but she really liked it.  A few more to post then off to bed (I would have posted them as I made them but I am having camera trouble).  Leslie

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #69 Unique Sketches - Take 2

Here is the second card I made using the same sketch as the first one - this one was much easier because I worked out the kinks on the first card:
Sketch-4

 Supplies for this card:

  • PTI White cardstock for base and oval tag
  • PTI Fillable Frames #4
  • DCWV Guy Stack
  • Stampin' Up Oval Punch
  • Stampin' Up Sage Shadows ink
  • 2 misc. Silver Brads
  • Adhesives - ATG and 3D-Dots
This is the card I will be using for my Father-in-Law; he is a maintenance man so the tools are very appropriate.  Thanks for looking.  Leslie

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #69 Unique Sketches - Take 1

I am loving the Papertrey Ink blog located here.  They provided six unique sketches from random source of inspiration this week for their Monday challenge.  I tried, through out the week, to make as many cards as possible and hopefully one from each sketch.  Here is the first inspiration and card:
Sketch-4

This card gave me a fit.  I cut the paper wrong so the card is a little shorter than normal; then I cut along my score line instead of folding but it worked out for the best.  The other side keeps coming unglued because it is just folded.  My supplies were:

  • PTI White cardstock for the base and oval tag.
  • DCWV Guy Stack
  • Stampin' Up Oval Punch
  • PTI Dark Chocolate Ink
  • PTI Fillable Frames #4
  • Adhesives:  ATG and 3D-Dots
  • 2 Misc. Black Brads.
This card is for my dad for Father's Day.  Thanks for looking!! Leslie
