PTI SAF 2015 - Red Carpet Challenge

12-red-carpet-finale
The end has come for this year's Stamp-a-faire event.  I didn't purchase the kit this year and think I did pretty good without it not that I didn't love the stamps I am just watching the budget closer since we are trying to start a family.
Here is my final picture of all of my projects at one time:
I wanted to take this moment also to show off my revamped cube storage system.  My mom bought me all but 2 of the cubes at a garage sale for $25.00 all disassembled with no hardware; I bought the other 2 at Michaels on major sale.  I have loved them since I got them but when we redid our home office last October I wanted to add some pizazz so I bought the shelf liner and updated the fronts.  We went with a White, Gray, Black color scheme with an accent color of a Plumish Purple.  I know my hubby thought I was going to explode purple in the room but he was pleasantly surprised.
Recently I had my mom build me a crate essentially that holds them all together, lifts them up just a bit off the floor so I can utilize the bottom drawer and has a solid top across the top for storing my Cricut and Minc machine.  I put the shelf liner up there too and absolutely love how it turned out.

Soon I will have a frame on the wall over it/behind it with chicken wire in it to clip up cards, photos, etc.  I need some baskets for the larger shelves just to hide the stuff.  Here is a pointer though...see the top right cubby, those are Tim Holtz Distress Tins for the mini-distress ink pads.  I have two paint stir sticks from Home Depot that I attached magnet strips to  so I can slide the tins all the way to the back and have no trouble pulling them out when needed.  The regular stick will hold two tins wonderfully.

PTI SAF 2015 - Runway Challenge

10-runway-challenge

Ok, so I have completely run out of steam.  With working today, and then errands after work, I could only get 1 of the remaining 4 challenges completed.  Oh well, I did better this year than last and I succeeded at posting as I completed a project instead of all at the last minute before going to bed.  I even did better at leaving comments for others instead of just stalking :)
This challenge was to take a runway photo or color scheme and turn it in to a project.  I selected the following colors which is an extremely neutral pallette for me:
Melissa-recipe

My photos are horrible but here is my project, a little to plain too but oh well...

What you cannot tell from the picture is that under the lace ribbon is Spring Moss paper peeking out.  Other supplies are PTI Fine Linen, Vintage Cream and Sweet Blush card stock, Craft Smith Blush Glam paper pack for the pattern paper, Keep It Simple: Anniversary set, Versamark Ink and Gold Ranger embossing powder.
Maybe by next year I will have my photography skills honed a bit more.  I am considering building a photo box since I always find myself trying to take photos after dark or on gloomy days.

PTI SAF 2015 - Unconventional Materials project 2

8-unconventional-materials-challenge
The next card used my original idea of using the easy liner as a stamp for a unique textured background:

PTI supplies are:  Orange Zest, Vintage Cream and Dark Chocolate cardstocks, Orange Zest and Dark Chocolate Ink, Birthday classics - November stamp set.  I also used my MISTI to line up the sentiment on the pattern background, Lawn Fawn Fall Sequins (leaves), glue dots, tombow adhesive, 3M foam tape and a misc 6x6 pattern paper in green.
Only three more challenges to go...I think I can...I think I can...

PTI SAF 2015 - Unconventional Materials Challenge

8-unconventional-materials-challenge

I had absolutely zero ideas for this challenge so I looked through everyone projects and then I decided to shop my garage for supplies.
I came back with various things but I decided to focus on the electrical tape, $4.99 per roll at Home Depot, and Duck Easy Liner, $4.74 per roll at Walmart.  I knew I wanted to use the easy liner to stamp with so you can see my sample of that below.
After I took the picture I started focusing on the Easy Liner more than the electrical tape and I thought wow that is cut very cleanly and rectangular.  I had an ah-ha moment and decided to add some color to it by sewing in various bright floss colors and the card below was born.

Check out the texture!!!

My supplies for the first card were:  PTI stamper select white cardstock, Birthday Bash Sentiments.  Duck easy liner in black, We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Floss in Watermelon, Hot Tamale, Traffic Cone, Sunbeam, Leprechaun, Spring Rain, Deep Ocean & Grape Vine, Tombow stamp runner adhesive, 3M foam adhesive, regular scotch tape to tape the thread to the back of the card panel and my Tim Holtz tiny attacher (first time use on that).

PTI SAF 2015 - Mix + Match Challenge

I skipped over the Accessories Challenge because those are a little outside my comfort zone.  I mainly dabble in paper crafting and haven't moved in to mixed media type of crafts.  Now, I must say I am starting to dabble with other styles of projects but for this weekend I am not going to stress myself that much.
So back to this challenge:
7-mix-+-match-challenge
Betsy Veldman was teaching how to mix different pattern paper.  I think the biggest thing that needs to be learned is how to utilize "white space" which is not necessarily white in color but neutral and plain so your eye has a place to rest from all of the busy other papers/patterns.
This was the one that broke me yesterday, well along with sharing the home office with the hubby and his noisy computer game.  I had been going at it all day and was just wiped so I hung up my scissors and started fresh this morning.  I must say it came together pretty quickly.  I had to use one of the card patterns from challenge two to get me going but it worked.

PTI supplies are:  Stamper Select White Cardstock, Thank You Kindly stamp set for the sentiment, Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest and New Leaf buttons.  Other supplies are: Nestabilities Standard Circle Small - 2nd from largest for polka dot paper, nestabilities Standard Circle Large - 4th larges for the teal paper, Versamark Ink, Wow Bright White embossing powder, MISTI, Tombow Stamp Runner Adhesive, 3M foam tape, WeRMemory Keepers Sew Easy Floss in Goldenrod and Simple Stories "DIY" 6x6 pad for the pattern paper.
Thanks for popping by and I would love to see some comments.  Off now to work on some more projects and to visit and comment on fellow participants works.  Happy Sunday!
