PTI SAF - The Renaissance

I skipped to Challenge #4 - Wax Seals.  I like the stamps that came in the kit but I wanted to try something else.  I have an old Inkadinkado stamps set in my stash called Framed Alpha that I wanted to use the T for a Thank You card (you can never have too many of those).

I attempted the wax part five different times using various techniques and ended up going with my second one that I actually pulled back out of my trash pile.  I was heavy handed with my pressure and ended up losing the inside of the wax so I created a wax frame T instead.  I stamped on a scrap piece of the red paper and heat embossed with gold embossing powder and affixed the wax to that.  Looking at it now, and my choice of thanks stamp I almost wish I hadn't done the inside of the T.  I masked off the t in thanks from the PTI Thanks All Ways stamp set and gold embossed that as well.
I used a new Simon Says Stamps frame die to cut out that very thin frame from the red and also from a scrap piece of PTI Vintage Cream cardstock.  I gold embossed the frame and glued the three pieces, inlaid together, to a Vintage Cream cardstock base.  I really like the way it turned out.  The other supplies not yet mentioned are below.
  •  DCWV Once Upon A Time Mat Stack (red paper), Versafine ink, Sealing Wax Stick from SAF kit, lighter, heat tool, Tombo stamp runner adhesive and wax paper.

PTI SAF 2014 - Morning Timer Challenge

To get the mojo going the first project is a Morning Timer Challenge.  You are to select a color combo and a sketch and create a card.  I selected the following:

SAF-Color-Inspiration-4

SAF-Sketch-Inspiration-3
I loved the stripes in the sketch recipe because I knew I could just use scraps of paper.  My In-Laws anniversary is next week so I used this challenge to create their anniversary card.  I did their anniversary card during SAF last year too.  Here is my first card for 2014 Stamp-A-Faire:
The little pieces of paper in front of the card is all that I threw away from making this card. Yes, I probably could have saved them but I didn't.  The supplies are listed below:

  • PTI Paper in the following colors - Berry Sorbet, Melon Berry, Sweet Blush, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores & White
  • PTI Heart Prints Stamps & Die
  • PTI Fillable Frames #4 for the sentiment
  • Versamark Ink with Ranger Rainbow Sparkle clear embossing powder
  • Xyron, Tombo stamp runner & foam adhesives
  • Scissors, Paper Trimmer, Cuttlebug & Martha Stewart Scoreboard
I did the card in the 20 minutes but I took time to do some more prep work before I actually started the card like cutting and scoring a bunch of white and vintage cream card bases.  So then I was running late I decided to make Saturday breakfast for the hubs and me.  Now to play catch up.  Thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire - Friday Night Meet & Greet

It starts tonight!  I am very excited to be fully participating in this years Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire - Time Traveler.  I participated last year and had a blast but I didn't purchase the kit (I missed the order date).  So for this year when they released the date of the event during their anniversary event I made sure I put it on my calendar and actually remembered to order the kit.
Friday night is the Meet and Greet where you introduce yourself and show off your preparation.  My name is Leslie and I live in Cocoa, Florida with my hubby and our two feline fur babies (oh yeah and lots of fish and two turtles who just recently laid eggs...so exciting.)
I transformed my dining room into my very own mini-Papertrey Ink show room lol. I would have crafted in my normal space but my office chair lost its hydraulics last week and I feel like I am sitting on the floor so the dining room table is where I will be since the table is bar height and I will be able to choose if I want to sit or stand.  Here is the before and I am going to try very hard to keep it clean for the after...ha!

So, I have all of my PTI products - Stamp-A-Faire kit, ink, buttons, reinkers, paper and my full PTI stamp collection ready to travel through time.  I think is time to go to bed so I can be refreshed and ready to roll at the bright early hour of 7 am (earlier than I have to be at work during the week).  Thanks for popping by and I hope you play along.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 - post 3

Here is my last post from my most recent Online Card Class.  There were a total of 12 days of inspirational videos and a total of 46 different technique projects.  I started many more projects that I never completed and probably will but not in time for the gallery to close.  This class focused on specific types of stamps - Backgrounds (I have 1 small one), Alphabets (I don't have any), Graphic Stamps, Floral and Floral Builders and Outline/coloring stamps.
My last card comes from Day 1 - Lesson 3 - Faux Watercolor Stamping.  The technique was to smush distress ink on a craft sheet, spritz with water, ink up background stamp and stamp, then cut it up.  The sample was cut into squares I decided to use my new mosaic cover plate die that I received in my PTI Stamp-a-faire kit (very excited...that event is this weekend).
Supplies:

  • Canson Watercolor
  • Recollections Background stamp
  • Distress Shaded Lilac and Spun Sugar
  • Mini Mister with water
  • PTI Cover Plate from Ancient Rome Stamp-a-faire kit
  • Cuttlebug die with gratitude for the thanks
  • Bazzill Cotton Candy cardstock
  • Vellum
  • EK Success Butterfly punch
  • Wink of Stella clear glitter pen (on thanks sentiment)
Again, highly recommend these classes but take them live...they are more fun that way.

One more post...

Stretch Your Stamps 2 - post 1

So I signed up for another Online Card Class, this time it was Stretch Your Stamps 2.  I previously won a spot in their Stenciled class at the beginning of the year and it was great.  This one was great too but I didn't play along like I did last time.  I still fully recommend taking the classes!!
I am going to post multiple things in each post so I can load them to the proper gallery.
Day 1 - Lesson 1 - Multilayer Emboss Resist.  This technique was to use a background stamp with embossing and then water color.  Then to take your background piece and cut it up for different cards and different uses.
Card 1 - supplies:

  • Canson Watercolor Paper
  • Versamark Ink
  • Hero Arts clear embossing powder
  • Artist Loft Watercolor
  • Papertrey Ink Journal Accessories (I don't have many background stamps at all so I used border stamps)
  • PTI Wonderful Words Birthday stamp set and die
  • Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock
  • Tombow Adhesive
  • Versafine Black Onyx
Day 8 - Lesson 3 - Create a Border.  This technique was to use a graphic stamp to create a background.
Only card - supplies:

  • Simon Says Stamps - Cupcake Party, largest star
  • PTI Signature Greetings - Girly You Rock
  • Cuttlebug Embossing folder - don't know the name
  • Stampin Up Pink Passion Ink
  • PTI Soft Stone Ink
  • Versafine Black Onyx
Day 10 - Lesson 2 - DIY Stamped Letter Embellishment.  This technique was to use a floral stamp to create a nice subtle background then stamp a color ink on white and mount the letters (or my case word dies) on fun foam for dimension.

Card 1 - supplies:

  • PTI Wonderful Words Birthday die
  • PTI Summer Sunrise ink and paper
  • Versamark for the background stamping
  • White fun foam
  • Cuttlebug
  • PTI Stamper Select White cardstock
  • Ranger Multi Matte Medium for adhesive
  • Lawn Fawn Mixed Sequins

Day 11 - Lesson 1 - Layered Heat Embossing.  This technique was to create a fun embellishment centerpiece by using one color embossing powder for the background and then stamping a design/sentiment on top and using a different color being very careful to not overheat the top layer so it melts in just right.  I absolutely loved this one and will be doing it again!!

Only card - supplies:

  • Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large dies - largest two
  • Cuttlebug
  • PTI Wet Paint Sentiment - enjoy
  • Cuttlebug Scrollwork embossing folder
  • PTI White cardstock
  • Versamark
  • Ranger Super Fine Silver embossing powder
  • Zing Aqua embossing powder
  • Embossing powder bag for antistatic
  • Foam adhesive

 Two more posts to come!
